An essential item for batsmen
When batting, gloves are allowed to be worn and certainly recommended. The batting gloves are considered an extension of the batsman’s cricket bat, so therefore you can be caught out when the ball touches the glove, when the hand is in contact with the bat.
When choosing batting gloves the level of protection and fit is key. You need to choose gloves with appropriate protection for the level of cricket played. The better the protection the higher the cost of materials.

5.6.1 reference to the bat shall imply that the bat is held in the batter’s hand or a glove worn on his/her hand, unless stated otherwise.
Types of Batting Glove
Batting gloves come in three main designs are available for right and left handers.
- Multi jointed batting gloves
- Sausage finger batting gloves
- Hybrid batting gloves (a mix of the two)
