An essential item for batsmen

When batting, gloves are allowed to be worn and certainly recommended. The batting gloves are considered an extension of the batsman’s cricket bat, so therefore you can be caught out when the ball touches the glove,  when the hand is in contact with the bat.

When choosing batting gloves the level of protection and fit is key.  You need to choose gloves with appropriate protection for the level of cricket played.  The better the protection the higher the cost of materials.

What the rules say…

5.6 Contact with the ball In these Laws…
5.6.1 reference to the bat shall imply that the bat is held in the batter’s hand or a glove worn on his/her hand, unless stated otherwise.
